Channelview, TX
about the project
This 2nd phase renovation to Harvey Brown Elementary, completed in 2016, added a refreshed look to the original wainscoting & serving line art murals.
Collaborating with the nutrition director in 2005, our design group developed an interior graphics plan for this open style serving line and dining room. The two marquee eyebrow canopies project the “theater & sound stage” design concept with the WKID transmission tower positioned between the two canopies.
Our design scope included graphics, signage, wainscoting, serving line canopies and wall murals. The design concept invoked a whimsical view into years past with images of vintage microphone, television and radio face details within the signage, murals and wall graphics.
A mural artist was commissioned to paint two scenes used at each end of the new serving lines. Mural imagery included a vintage theater marquee and kids performing on a vintage sound stage. Merchandising props were used to reinforce the design concepts of each serving line.
