about the project
[ The Station ] the center of student activity and social dining for this two serving line 7th-8th grade middle school was transformed into an environment that captures imagination, encourages participation, social interaction and friendship.
The design concept highlighted the historical Dayton influence the Troutman brothers and their neighborhood Troutman Sound Labs played in the development of the 70’s era Ohio funk movement. Culturally diverse images were used throughout the serving area to illustrate moments of education, music, nutrition & social interaction. Inspirational character words like “Patience, Kindness & Goodness” were layered within the serving area graphics.
