Channelview, TX
about the project
Alice Johnson Junior High, completed in 2015, this 3 line cafeteria serves 1000 students, grades 6th-8th.
Proximity to the San Jacinto River shipping channels was the foundation for a maritime design concept that includes brand identities, signage, scrim graphics, wainscoting and line merchandising. Images of dock planking and rusted corrugated metal were incorporated into Formica Envision laminate and used as wainscoting in high traffic areas.
Serving line concepts include Barnacle Pete’s, @thebuoy and Pier 29.79N. Ambient graphics include dimensional dock shacks, marine life images, a boat rental shack, large colorful boat scrim panels and numbered sail flags.
